The Business Equity for Indy (BEI) Workforce Pilot is a transformative, two-year program designed to promote equity in the workplace. Launched in the fall of 2022, it brought together 19 diverse businesses to adopt evidence-based strategies, reduce disparities, and enhance talent management. This initiative offers high-value consultation and access to industry experts, empowering companies to make impactful changes.
Why This Program Matters
Equity in the workplace is not just a moral imperative but a business necessity. Companies that embrace diversity and inclusion are better positioned to attract top talent, foster innovation, and achieve sustainable growth. The BEI Workforce Pilot equips organizations with the tools and knowledge needed to create more equitable environments, ultimately benefiting employees, businesses, and the broader community.
Kristen Lampkin, Director of BEI, emphasizes, “The Workforce Pilot is a crucial step towards building a more equitable business environment in Central Indiana. By sharing their journeys, these companies are setting a precedent for others in the community to follow.”
You’re Invited to the August PcP
In August, BEI will host a People Community of Practice (PcP) event where participating companies from the Workforce Pilot will share their experiences and outcomes. This event is an opportunity to learn from the journeys of these organizations, including their challenges and successes. Attendees will hear from companies like EmployIndy, IndyGo, Morales Group, and Second Helpings, with discussions moderated by Nicole Carey, CEO of Indy Equity Collaborative.
The BEI Workforce Pilot was made possible by support from the Richard M. Fairbanks Foundation and Lumina Foundation.
This event is ideal for HR, DEIA, and talent-focused leaders from companies of all sizes looking to educate themselves, share best practices, and engage with peers in fostering a more equitable workplace. By participating, companies can gain valuable insights into strategies for advancing Black professionals and other minority employees in their career trajectories.
The event will include:
- A Spotlight on Equity Projects: Learn about the comprehensive equity projects developed by participating companies, including detailed implementation plans covering project charters, stakeholder analysis, risk management plans, action plans, budgets, and communication strategies.
- Panel Discussions: Engage with representatives from small, medium, and large enterprises as they share their unique perspectives and approaches to driving equity in the workplace.
- Open networking with fellow BEI member companies.
