Overview

Brief Program Summary: Tech was supposed to be the great equalizer but has fallen short on that promise. Eleven Fifty Academy (EFA) intends to change that with the Advancing Tech in 46218 (AT46218) project. EFA will work with Martin University and other collaborative partners to provide good or promising jobs to a population that has long been considered non-traditional in the tech industry. The target audience for AT46218 will be current and incoming adult students at Martin University, students at Goodwill’s Excel Center that have completed IT Fundamentals, and individuals identified through outreach conducted throughout the 46218 neighborhood, including via Eastern Star Church and Innopower. EFA courses will take place virtually and in-person at Martin University. Additionally, through an articulation agreement between Martin University and EFA, students will have the option to complete three additional courses and earn a Business Entrepreneurship Technology Certificate or apply their EFA coursework toward completion of a Bachelor of Applied Science Computer Software Application (BS) or Business Administration (BA). AT46218 partners will work together to ensure that all program participants have access to wraparound supports through collaborative partner agencies and/or EFA. This could include access to barrier buster funds, transportation, childcare, or other wraparound supports. Finally, EFA will engage employer partners to place graduates in positions that pay, on average, $54,000 annually.
Success Metrics: Year 1 Target Outcomes: 75% of enrolled students graduate + 20% are enrolled from Martin University + 60% of graduates are placed into employment with an average wage of $54,000. Employment retention at 6 and 12 months is 60% and average wage at 12 months post placement is $60,000.
