Overview

Brief Program Summary: The Multicultural Leadership Education Program (MLEP) offers undergraduate students an opportunity to do in-depth critical readings in race, gender and LGBTQ+ cultures, histories and experiences. Students are exposed to different ways of knowing and being through readings and discussions with a skilled facilitator/instructor in these one-half semester long co-curricular sessions (non-credit). At the end of the semester, students share their experiences, lessons learned and how the shared information will impact the remainder of their studies, professional and personal lives.
Success Metrics: Assessment of campus climate; National Survey of Student Engagement measures degree to which the college experiences engage students in developing skills to work with people from various backgrounds, recognize their own cultural norms and biases, learning about other cultures, discuss issues of equity or privilege, etc.
