Overview
Brief Program Summary: Project Lead the Way (PLTW) is a nationally recognized, non-profit
organization that provides in depth, cross-curricular learning experiences and opportunities for K-
12 schools. They specialize in the areas of STEM with 3 main pathways – computer science,
engineering, and biomedical science. Additional to exposure in these areas, students also gain
incredibly applicable employability skills, personal skills, and professional skills that prepare them
for the ever changing workforce regardless of the career path they choose. Each course has a
roughly similar layout of understanding concepts and vocabulary, experimenting and testing
ideas, and then applying their research and data to solve a real world problem.
Success Metrics: PLTW really does wonders for resparking the love for learning and problem
solving not only for the students, but for the teachers as well. Regardless of students’ backgrounds
or economic status, they are empowered through this program to take on challenges and build
confidence in their creativity. It provides multiple opportunities for different language learners,
higher or lower level thinkers, individual and group work, and most importantly, connecting
schools and students with members of their community. Students and teachers create
relationships that expose our future generation to so much more that is out there for them while
also inspiring the world with what our young inventors can really do when given the resources.
