Program Type
Leadership skills & college/career prep programs
Ages Served:
19-25 Years
Overview
Brief Program Summary: Designed by the Surge Institute, Surge Academy provides an
intensive fellowship experience, including powerful content that explores executive skills such as
finance, strategic planning, and change management. The program also includes a deep and
unflinching dialogue about personal growth, trauma, and the true state of diversity, equity, and
inclusion in America.
Success Metrics: As Surge Academy Indianapolis is in its first year, impact has not yet been
demonstrated. Impact will be achieved if participants utilize the knowledge they received
surrounding policy, equity, and education during their Fellowship to help transform Indianapolis’
systems in ways that benefit youth of color, as equity and antiracism are core features of the
program. Additionally, impact will be measured if participants are promoted into higher-level
leadership roles, leading to a shift in leadership in education organizations primarily representing
people of color.
